Hope 2008

Hope 2008

At the end of September 2007 churches and Christians in over 900 locations across the UK had registered to express interest in taking part in HOPE 2008 initiatives in their communities.

This included nearly 350 locations which have a population of over 20,000 people (towns and cities) and over 550 smaller communities (the many villages which make up much of our nations). The vast majority of these locations were in England (nearly 830) and the remainder in Wales, Scotland and Ireland (North and South).

The Archbishop of York will be participating in Hope 2008 mission. Hope is intended as a catalyst for local churches to engage with the Gospel through doing more, working together, and communicating the Gospel in both words and actions. This catalytic effect will depend on people taking the initiative to begin their own conversations, holding meetings (formally and informally) and making plans.

Hope 2008 provides a detailed programme of suggestions for the new year, lent, pentecost, harvest, Christmas, schools, for where you live and for local radio.  The programme provided is intended so that all people can partipate with Hope 2008 and it also provides an opportunity for churches and communities to interpret the initiative as they wish.
