Archbishop Appoints New Chaplain

Dr John Sentamu, the Archbishop of York, has today announced the appointment of The Revd. Dr. Daphne Green as his new Chaplain/Researcher.

Dr. Green succeeds The Rt. Revd. Robert Paterson who was recently enthroned as the Bishop of Sodor and Man.
Daphne Green was born in Salisbury and brought up in London. She studied at Cambridge University before training as a teacher at Kings College in London. After teaching in India and England Daphne moved into publishing where she worked as a Marketing Manager, before moving to Leeds where she set up her own educational publishing company. She was subsequently appointed as Marketing Director of a PR agency where she was responsible for new client acquisition and consultancy, a post she held for nine years until her ordination in 1998.
Dr. Green trained for ministry in the Church of England on the Northern Ordination Course and in 2001 and was awarded a PhD in Theology from Leeds University. Dr. Green served as Assistant Curate at St Michael's Headingley from 1998 – 2002 and also part-time chaplain at Leeds Metropolitan University. Since 2002 she has been Rector of Stanningley parish in West Leeds.
Announcing the appointment the Archbishop of York said:
"I am delighted to welcome Daphne as my new Chaplain/Researcher. Her high calibre and exceptional abilities are well proven; she will make an excellent addition to the team working at Bishopthorpe."
Responding to news of her appointment Dr. Green said:
"I am overjoyed to be appointed as Chaplain/Researcher to the Archbishop of York and I welcome this opportunity to work with him and other members of his team in this exciting and challenging post. At the same time, I am sad to leave my current parish of Stanningley in West Leeds where I have spent six very fulfilling years and have received tremendous support from the parishioners."
Dr. Green will take up her post in September.
