'Pray for Madeleine' says Archbishop
Monday 03 May 2010
The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, asks people to pray for Madeleine on the third anniversary of her abduction.
It is now three years since Madeleine was abducted from her bedroom. It is still an agony for her parents, siblings, family and friends to live in hope, without any news of her whereabouts. We must support them with our prayers, which I know are precious to them.
Missing children and adults may fade from our newspapers, but still occupy a prime space in the hearts of their nearest and dearest. In my Chapel at Bishopthorpe we pray regularly for Madeleine and others who are missing.
Please join us in spirit – you may find this prayer helpful to use:
Dear Lord We continue to pray for Madeleine McCann. We pray that you will watch over her and hold her in your love and keep her free from all harm. Bless her family and all who wait for loved ones to return. Surround them with your love and keep the light of hope alive in their hearts for their safe homecoming. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen |
