"AMEN!" - ARCHBISHOP GIVES THANKS FOR BA CLIMBDOWN

The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, this evening issued the following statement following the news that British Airways has decided to review its uniform policy to allow for the wearing of religious symbols:

"Amen !! This is excellent news for Nadia, BA and society as a whole.

"The national carrier which carries the flags of St. George, St. Andrew and St. David across the world, reminding all of our country's Christian heritage, has finally arrived at the correct decision.

"Our prayers and hopes have been answered for Nadia Eweida. We hope that she will now be able to return to work as normal.

"The Cross is not just a piece of jewellery but a sign of the love of God displayed in Jesus Christ.

"We are grateful to BA for their gracious response and look forward to the outcome of the review which will allow those who so wish to express their faith without censure."
