Selby College Celebrates Campus Completion

Student representatives with Chair Vernon Wells and Selby College Principal.

Wednesday 8th June 2011

After more than seven years of planning and extensive redevelopment, staff and students at top-performing Selby College gathered today to celebrate the completion of the new look Abbot’s Road site.

The Archbishop of York was unable to attend the ceremony but sent the following message:

To the Principal, Students, Governors, Parents and Friends of Selby College

8th June 2011

Congratulations on the Official Opening of Selby College this morning.

I had been very much looking forward to coming to meet you all again on this special occasion and to bless the building.

What a great day this is for you, and what a brilliant College you have!

I am very sorry indeed not to be able to join you, but I am afraid that, at the very moment you begin the ceremony, I shall just be being discharged from St Thomas's Hospital in London, following my operation.

I hope to visit you before the end of term, to bury the time capsule and to celebrate with you again!

In the meantime, I wish you all every blessing

With my prayers.
