Dr John Sentamu to open ECHO

Archbishop of York

Friday 13th January 2012

Dr John Sentamu, the Archbishop of York, will officially dedicate ECHO, the newly rebuilt and refurbished Emmanuel Church Hall, off Windsor Road in Saltburn at a special service on Sunday 15th January 2012 at 2.30pm. Everybody welcome.

The Rev’d Adam Reed, Vicar of Emmanuel, said “It is a great privilege for Emmanuel Church and Saltburn to have the opportunity to welcome a person of such faith, integrity and charisma.”

After years of planning and fundraising, the demolition, rebuild and refurbishment of the remaining main hall began in June last year. The building contractors, S C Building Contractors Ltd have been able to bring the work ahead of schedule with completion due at the beginning of February. The building was sympathetically designed by ELR Architects, taking into consideration the church building and the character of the Victorian town. Fundraising events are planned over the coming four years to repay a loan from Methodist Chapel Aid who have supported the project. The new facilities will be available for mission and outreach projects to develop initiatives to improve the social and spiritual life of the local community and for other community groups who aim to improve the lives of the community they represent.
