Archbishop Welcomes Parishes for Mission Day
Archbishop at Mission Day EventTuesday 3rd July 2012
The Archbishop of York invited parishes of the North of England to join together to share their visions, ideas and experiences, and to encourage one another in active mission and evangelism. The Mission Day event also included presentations about discipleship from Martin Cavender and Alison Morgan, of ReSource.
The Archbishop said: "Mission is the responsibility of every Christian person. Some are good at evangelism - that is having the passion to witness what God has done in Jesus Christ. Others may have gifts of bringing peace and reconciliation to broken families and communities, or bringing comfort to those who are bereaved or in trouble. But remember, every Christian is a member of Christ's body. God calls us to his mission and gives us the gifts we need in the power of the Holy Spirit."
The parishes of Evenwood - Durham, Chorley - Blackburn and Sutton in Ashfield - Southwell and Nottingham shared their experiences of outreach in their local parishes and the next steps they are planning for the future.
