Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu Commissioning Young LeadersWednesday 31st October 2012
On 27th October from 2pm – 4pm, Youth for Christ held its annual Commissioning Day event at Birmingham Christian Centre, with YFC President, the Archbishop of York, and Gavin Calver, National Director of Youth for Christ.Almost 100 new staff and local volunteers were welcomed into the YFC family and commissioned for service during an action-packed event where YFC teams showcased the creative, relevant and innovative programmes, resources and skills they use the take the Gospel relevantly to Britain’s young people today.
YFC Ambassador and MOBO Award-winning Gospel Artist, Guvna B performed his latest single “free” and Stance; YFC’s newest mission team, treated attendees to a heart-stopping street dance routine at what was an exhilarating event.
At such an exciting time for a cutting edge Christian youth work movement, YFC were delighted that Archbishop Sentamu could attend the event.
Dr Sentamu said: “I am always inspired by the enthusiasm and commitment of those young people who want to go out and be a positive change in their communities. I wish we could bottle their energy and sell it!
“I want to say to everyone I commissioned at the Youth For Christ day: ‘Wow! You are amazing! Keep aiming high – with God anything is possible!’”
