Prom Praise Celebrates in the North East

Prom Praise North East

Wednesday 1st May 2013

Prom Praise is returning to the North East to feature afternoon and evening performances at The Sage Gateshead on Saturday 18th May 2013.

This will be the fourth visit to the North East for the All Souls Orchestra with the conductor Noel Tredinnick. In addition to this accomplished orchestra there will be a choir of Christians from across the region and a combined Youth Choir from Emmanuel College and Bede Academy, singing at both performances.  The Guest Speakers will be the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, for the evening performance and The Rev. Ian Garrett for the afternoon.

The performances take place on the Saturday of Pentecost weekend, and this year’s concerts will celebrate Christ as king and God’s gift of his Holy Spirit.

The Revd David Hunt, Chairman of the organising group, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome two gifted communicators as our guest speakers. In the evening, the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, will be joining us as our guest, and at the afternoon performance the Revd Ian Garrett, from Jesmond Parish Church in Newcastle, will speak. Both concerts promise to be of the highest quality and glorifying to God, which is what will make them so special for everyone who comes along.”

The Revd Hunt added: “We very much hope that you will be able to come along to this inspiring event and encourage others to join us too!”

The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, said: “The coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost to Jesus’ first disciples meant a celebration of new life for individuals, new life for the community and Jesus Christ being more visible in his Body, the Church. This is a time to celebrate God’s unmerited favour in Jesus.  It is also a wonderful opportunity to pray and sing for new life in the power of the Holy Spirit.  This Christ-like life is both life-changing and life-transforming. Let us be the Good News of Jesus Christ.”
