Archbishop’s Acts 435 Charity Encourages #anothergift

Archbishop’s Acts 435 Charity

Monday 3rd November 2014

The Archbishop of York’s online charity Acts 435 is urging people to remember those struggling this Christmas and to show support by donating #anothergift

Through November and December 2014, Acts 435 will run a Twitter campaign #anothergift and is inviting churches, schools and community groups to stretch their budgets to one more gift for Christmas, for someone in need.

Acts 435 will also supply packs of decorations for churches, schools and community groups wishing to decorate an Acts 435 Christmas Tree.  The cut out baubles have messages such as ‘Help! No coat for winter, and Help! Washing machine broken’ to raise awareness of those living in poverty in the UK and also how a resource like Acts 435 can make a difference.

“Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus”; said Executive Director Jenny Herrera, “not the consumerism that can take hold of us and put so much pressure on those struggling financially.  Decorating a tree with baubles that speak of the basic essentials that some people lack such as a coat or fresh food takes us back to the heart of that generous spirit at Christmas.  A small gift in the lives of those in need does make a big difference.”
