Archbishop of York at Henley Literary Festival

Friday 25th September 2015

The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu is to speak at the Henley Literary Festival on Tuesday 29 September at 6.30pm at Christ Church.

His talk is based on his own journey of faith and his book ‘On Rock or Sand?’ which features contributions from experts in economic, political, social and religious disciplines, including Lord Adonis, Sir Philip Mawer, Oliver O'Donovan, Andrew Sentance and Archbishop Justin Welby.  It sets out the essential values needed to build a just, sustainable and compassionate society in which all can participate and flourish.  An online free study guide to accompany the book is also available.

Now in its ninth year, the Henley Literary Festival offers over 170 talks, Q&As, performances and workshops from September 28th to October 4th. Events on everything from cookery and current affairs to showbusiness and sport take place at venues across the picturesque town, including an historic theatre and a boat on the Thames. Speakers including Jane Hawking, Ranulph Fiennes, Ella Woodward and the Archbishop of York feature alongside bestsellers like Lynda La Plante, Deborah Moggach and Louis de Bernieres. For children aged two and up, over 50 events include Alice in Wonderland, Beast Quest and Maisy Mouse as well as Michael Morpurgo and Charlie & Lola creator Lauren Child.
