The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu is delighted to welcome the Suffragan Bishop of Islington, Rt Revd Ric Thorpe to lead a workshop on church planting at Bishopthorpe today.

Archbishop Sentamu said: “The purpose of today is get people from the parishes across the North learning together and exploring the possibilities of revitalisation. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will guide us to new places and give us boldness to go out and make new disciples of Jesus Christ. We must be open to the Holy Spirit who allows transformations to happen!”

Bishop Ric Thorpe said: “There are impressive examples of churches being planted and rejuvenated across the North of England. I am looking forward to hearing more of these stories and sharing our experience and learning at this exciting time. We would love to see a fresh wave of Church planting in our day in order to reach new people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Speakers include Pioneer Ministers - James Barnett and Christian Selvaratnam, Team Vicar at St George’s Leeds – Joanna Seabourne and Lighthouse Coordinator at St George’s Leeds – Jon Swales.  The Archbishop will lead a reflection as part of the workshop day.
