Gladiator ‘Ace’ Joins Archbishop Sentamu for Crossroads Mission

Tuesday 30th August 2016

The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu is pleased to announce that former gladiator Warren ‘Ace’ Furman is joining him for the Crossroads Mission taking place across the Blackburn Diocese from Thursday 8 September to Sunday 11 September.

Archbishop Sentamu, together with all of the Bishops of the Northern Province and their teams, will be working alongside youth workers, ordinands and clergy. The essence of Crossroads is local churches engaging in local mission, inviting individuals to find out more about Jesus and his love for all.

Archbishop Sentamu said: “Throughout August I have prayed daily for the Crossroads Mission that we encourage all to come to encounter Jesus Christ; that we will be filled and renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit and that we go out to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and God’s love with everyone.  I look forward to meeting the people of Lancashire on this mission. From Blackpool to Burnley – may everyone know that Jesus Rocks!”

Former Gladiator Warren ‘Ace’ Furman joined the Archbishop during his Pilgrimage of Prayer, Witness and Blessing across the Diocese of York to share his new life and trust in Jesus Christ. Warren will be sharing his faith journey at ‘Light at the Crossroads’ at Bowley Scout Camp with Gladiator style games and will be part of a team completing outdoor missions at Blackpool Town Centre on Friday and Lancaster City Centre on Saturday. On Sunday, he will join Archbishop Sentamu at HMP Kirkham as part of a packed programme over the four days.

The opening event is on Thursday 8September at 2pm at Blackburn Cathedral; the closing event is Sunday 11September at 4pm at Preston Flagmarket – all are warmly invited. Come and see!

Heavenly Father, we embrace

Your call for us to make disciples,

To be witnesses and to grow leaders.
