Thursday 28th September 2017

The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, today hosted Her Majesty The Queen’s Honorary Chaplains and their spouses to Bishopthorpe Palace where they toured the State Rooms and Chapel, and the gardens of the Palace. Following the visit, the Chaplains attended the Evensong service at York Minster.

An Honorary Chaplain to HM The Queen is a member of the clergy within the United Kingdom who, through long and distinguished service, is appointed to minister to the monarch of the United Kingdom.

The Archbishop said, “I was delighted to welcome and host a group of The Queen’s Chaplains to Bishopthorpe today for an informal visit to the Palace. It’s a great opportunity for everyone to get together to share in ministry and I pray that all were inspired by the Evensong Service at York Minster – the Lord reigns!”
