Night Prayer

York Mystery Plays

The Archbishop of York has invited people to join him in saying night prayer after the York Mystery Plays performance on 24th August 2012.

The Archbishop, Patron of the Mystery Plays, led Night Prayer (Compline) at St Olave’s Church, Marygate directly after the performance.

Compline, also known as night prayer, is being said after every evening performance in St Olave’s Church – the church which is situated next to Museum Gardens where the production is being held.

A suggested prayer if you can’t make the service is as follows:

Almighty God, we thank you for those who dedicate their lives communicating your message of truth and love, especially those who have given their time and talents supporting the work of York Mystery Plays 2012. May we all experience the presence of the Lord in new ways and find space to open our hearts to your teaching, in the busy lives we lead.  Amen.
