Together with the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Archbishop of York shares in the oversight of the Church of England, with a particular focus on the North. As Primate of England, he oversees the 12 dioceses in the Province of York and is responsible for the Diocese of York.
The Archbishop is a preacher, teacher and evangelist, sharing the good news of what God has done in Jesus Christ. Above all, he is a disciple, praying each and every day for the churches, communities and nation committed to his charge. The Archbishop uses the platform his role affords him to speak on behalf of the North, as well as to advocate for the poor, the marginalised, and those whose voices often go unheard.
