Archbishop Opens Wilberforce Trust Sensory Hub

The Wilberforce Trust was delighted to welcome the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, on Thursday 25 May 2017.

The Archbishop came to open the new Hub for people with sight and hearing loss at Wilberforce Trust Head Quarters in Huntington, which is being run under our Yorsensory service.

The Archbishop enjoyed a tour of the building which included a visit to the Hub, dropping in on the sensory session for people with profound disabilities and meeting participants at the Summer Baking Class, before officially opening the Hub.

Staff and volunteers of the Trust were delighted to show him around and explain more about the new services on offer to local people.

The Archbishop said: “It has been wonderful to meet staff and volunteers and to see the work and dedication that has gone into the creation of the Service Hub.  This will provide a great place for people to come and find information and support.  Fantastic!”

People with sight and hearing loss in York are invited to visit the Hub where they will have access to advice and information about their conditions and where staff will be able to offer practical solutions to everyday problems.
