Archbishop’s Youth Trust Plans more Headteachers’ Conferences

The Archbishop of York Youth Trust is to run four conferences for schools interested in introducing the Young Leaders Award into their curriculum. The next conference is to be held in Runcorn on 21 March, Preston on 30 March and Liverpool on 11 May.

The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu will be the keynote speaker at the first of the conferences to be held at Bishopthorpe Palace on 9 February. He will speak to school leaders about the success of the Young Leaders Award so far and how important it is to raise well rounded young people who have vital roles to play in our society.

The Archbishop said, “I commend the Awards to school leaders because of the difference this makes to empower young people to make long-lasting changes. I look forward to speaking about how the work of the Trust and these Awards can help young people achieve their potential.”

Elizabeth Howat, Strategic Lead for Secondary Awards said, “The conferences are a great opportunity to celebrate all that our young people can achieve and to hear from key speakers, who will help those attending to consider some of the latest information around Character Education and the effect of social action and volunteering on young people’s lives and the lives of their local communities.  Hearing from teachers and pupils who have experienced the Awards for themselves is always encouraging but also demonstrates how the Awards are delivered in particular settings”

Bishop Libby Lane is the Keynote Speaker at Runcorn on 21 March.  Bishop Philip North is the Keynote Speaker at Preston on 30 March and Bishop Paul Bayes is the Keynote Speaker at Liverpool on 11 May.
