A statement from the Archbishop of York following the Manchester bombing and the death of two York residents

The Archbishop of York has issued a statement following the Manchester Arena bombing and the report of the death of two York residents.

The news of the death of Angelika and Marcin Klis, killed as they waited to collect their daughters from Manchester Arena on Monday night, is a loss which touches us all here in York. Our hearts go out to their girls and to their wider family and friends. They have our prayers and support at this terrible time.

This is a time for communities to hold together, to care for one another, to respect the privacy of those carrying this grief, and to hold on to the truth that:

'Love is stronger than hate, light is stronger than darkness, life is stronger than death'.

May God give comfort and hope to all who bear this sadness.
