Whitby Sisters welcome new Chaplain

01/10/2020

The Order of the Holy Paraclete (OHP) in Whitby are delighted to announce the appointment of their new Chaplain, the Revd Lynn Purvis-Lee.

Lynn is from County Durham, and before ordination worked in a range of jobs from a clothing factory for Marks and Spencer to healthcare and physiotherapy. Ordained in 1998, she served as Curate in Great Aycliffe, and in 2002 was appointed chaplain to North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust based in Stockton.

She was Rector of the Penhill Benefice (a group of parishes in Wensleydale) from from 2014 to 2018.

"Having been nurtured and supported by the Order of the Holy Paraclete over my 22 years of ordained ministry, it’s a privilege and a blessing to be able to support them in turn as chaplain," said Lynn.

"I look forward to journeying with them in prayer and friendship."

The Archbishop of York, who will be licensing Lynn at the Priory on 20 October, said, "I am very much looking forward to my first visit to the Priory as Archbishop.

"The faithful prayer and service of the sisters of the OHP are hugely appreciated by me and so many others, and I celebrate with them as they welcome their new chaplain."

The Prioress, Sr Jocelyn said, "The Order has known Lynn for many years and she joins us after a varied career in parish and chaplaincy ministry.

"We now look forward to journeying together in partnership as we discern God’s plans for us."
