Archbishop Repeats Condemnation of David Kato Murder
Tuesday 3rd May 2011The Archbishop this week has repeated his condemnation of the murder of David Kato in Uganda. Mr Kato had studied at University of York’s Centre for Human Rights and lived in York for 6 months during 2010.
The Archbishop said:
“I agree wholeheartedly with the statement made by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Primates of the Anglican Communion in Dublin, at the time of David Kato’s brutal murder. No-one should have to live under the threat of violence and death, or live in fear because of the bigotry of others. Such violence has been consistently condemned by the Anglican Communion worldwide. Every person has the right to enjoy safety and security regardless of their beliefs or orientation – we are all created in God’s image and likeness.”
