Friends of York Hospitals Fundraiser

Wednesday 30th September 2015

The Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu is to speak at the Friends of York Hospitals Fundraiser tomorrow evening at The Hawkhills Conference Centre.

The Archbishop is Patron of the Friends of York Hospitals charity. In order to help with special equipment for patients at York Hospital, the Friends of York Hospitals are fundraising to renovate the children’s play area in the Head & Neck Injuries Waiting Room of the Audiology Department.

Mrs Jenny Hildyard, Trustee and Honorary Secretary of the FOYH said: “Fundraising is always a vital activity for us. Over the past 63 years the Friends have supported and complemented the charitable work of the NHS Trust.  Each year, the Friends invite applications from all areas of York Hospital, specifically for the benefit of patients, which cannot readily be financed by central NHS funds.  We consider these applications before deciding what equipment we are able to fund. The estimated cost of this project for the Head & Neck Injuries is £8,000 and we hope to be able to give the necessary amount to transform the area for the benefit of children and their families.”

Head and Neck specialities include a wide range of services: Audiology, Ear Nose and Throat, Maxillo-Facial Surgery, Orthodontics, Restorative dentistry, and Speech and Language Therapy services.
