Dr Paul Cavill, a key contributor to the ‘Faith in the North’ initiative, has generously offered to donate copies of this book to support churches in exploring the riches of Anglo-Saxon spirituality. The book’s overall aim is to show the relevance of Christian faith to everyday life, to make connections between the Christianity of early medieval England and now, and between the Bible and theology, literature, and history. It shows the depth and vitality of the faith of the Anglo-Saxons and illustrates how creative, wise, theological, spiritual, and humane Christianity was then - and can be today.

Large numbers of this book are offered as a gift for churches and will be available at key ‘Faith in the North’ events.  Material from the book could be used in book groups, Lent groups, prayer groups and worship, to support the other online and printed resources which will be shared. There will talks and days exploring Anglo Saxon spirituality, art, and history; guides to the stories of churches, saints and artefacts; as well as liturgical and prayer resources. The aim is to help churches, communities, schools, local history groups, and many more, to understand, to celebrate and use their spiritual heritage together in ways which will give us new opportunities to build relationships and to share the gospel across the North today.
