12/04/2024

The Rt Revd Smitha Prasadam, Bishop of Huddersfield in the Diocese of Leeds, will be leading a pilgrimage to Taizé this summer, and will be sharing more at an upcoming event at Wakefield Cathedral.

The pilgrimage for young people and adults is taking place from Saturday, August 17 to Monday, August 26, and the Most Revd Stephen Cottrell, Archbishop of York, will join pilgrims for part of their journey.

Bishop Smitha said: “Taizé is an inspirational pilgrimage of trust, gathering people from all over the world.

“Simplicity and joy of heart define Taizé, and it has been the place where many have found or deepened their faith and prayer life, explored vocation, and committed their lives to Christ.

“Its songs and prayers continue to inspire worship worldwide.

“I do hope you can join this pilgrimage and look forward to welcoming you.”

All Clergy, Lay Readers, Youth Leaders and individuals interested in learning more about the pilgrimage are invited to gather for a time of prayer and introduction with Br Jean-Patrick of the Taizé Community on Saturday, April 27 in Wakefield Cathedral from 3.30pm – 5 pm.

The event will include praying together and sharing more details about the pilgrimage, with full details of travel costs, accommodation and programme given on the day.
