Archbishop Sentamu has appointed Louise Connacher as Registrar of the Province of York with effect from 2 February 2020.
Louise has been Registrar of the Diocese of York since November 2019 and acting Provincial Registrar following the sudden death of Caroline Mockford in March 2019.
Louise said: “It is both a pleasure and a privilege to be appointed Registrar of the Province of York and I look forward to supporting Archbishop Sentamu in his work across the wider Province”.
Canon John Rees, the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Provincial Registrar, commented: “Louise has risen magnificently to the challenge presented by Caroline’s sudden death. She is well-respected by her fellow registrars for her legal knowledge and experience, and by the bishops and clergy she advises for her practical approach to the invariably complex issues they put to her. I look forward to our teams working closely together as we have done with her predecessors.”
Archbishop Sentamu said: “I am delighted that Louise has been officially appointed to the position of Provincial Registrar. Since she stepped into the role last year I have appreciated the valuable advice and support she has given. I am sure she will continue to be an asset in the work we do together as the Church of England in the North.”
